TRIM21 regulates TP53-mediated apoptosis and inflammasome activation. TRIM21 activates the formation of mature CASP8 and CASP1 and activates the inflammasome. TRIM21 also activates BAX-BAK1-mediated mitochondrial membrane pore formation and SIVA1- and TP53-mediated ASC transcription. In C. elegans, TRIM21 induces ubiquitination of CED1 to form a cell corpse.
