  1. The IC50 value was defined as the final concentration of 50% radical inhibition (relative reducing power). It was calculated by linear regression analysis, and expressed as the mean ± SD (n = 3). The linear regression was analyzed using Origin 6.0. Mean values with different superscripts (a or b) in the same row are significantly different (p < 0.05). *The assay was conducted at pH 7.4. The ratio value is defined as IC50 Trolox/IC50 (+) taxifolin. The dose–response curves are shown in Additional file 1: Figures S2-S7
