Iron overload can induce autophagic cell death in bone marrow mononuclear cells in vitro. a—A representative immunoblot analysis of LC3 assayed after mononuclear cells were treated with FAC at different concentrations (0, 100, 200, 400 μM) for 24 h. β-actin used as an internal standard for protein loading and the experiment was repeated three times. b—Confocal microscopy revealed an increased number of autophagic vacuoles when cells were treated with FAC at different concentrations (0, 100, 200, 400 μM) for 24 h. c—Bone marrow mononuclear cells were incubated with FAC (200 μM) in the absence or presence of BafA1 (10 nM) for 24 h.
