As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times. Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.

Featured article: Emerging roles of prominin-1 (CD133) in the dynamics of plasma membrane architecture and cell signaling pathways in health and disease

CD133 is known for its association with stem cells and cancer stem cells, often used for their isolation. Recent research has revealed CD133's involvement in plasma membrane structures like microvilli and cilia, as well as in extracellular vesicle release and signaling pathways. This Review aims to summarize early studies on CD133 and present recent evidence of its involvement in membrane dynamics and molecular signaling, providing insights into its function in both health and disease.

Submission Guidance

As guidance on submissions does change over time, particularly relating to expectations that authors provide original images/blots and considerations for non-coding RNA papers, we ask that authors please ensure they read and comply with the guidance in the author guidelines which they can find here. Please note instructions may vary slightly by article type. Failure to comply with this guidance could result in delays in processing manuscripts.

Call For Papers

CMBL is currently commissioning a new special collection on Gene Regulation Tools for Treating Genetic Diseases and Cancers Based on CRISPR-related technologies. Guest Edited by Yuchen Liu, we welcome the submission of reviews and primary research articles that examine CRISPR-related technologies which have emerged as powerful tools for editing and manipulating genes, and have revolutionized the field of gene therapy. This Collection aims to highlight the latest research and developments in this field, with a focus on the regulatory tools used to treat genetic diseases and cancers.

Submission Deadline: April 30, 2024

Aims and scope

Cellular & Molecular Biology Letters is an international journal dedicated to the dissemination of fundamental knowledge in all areas of cellular and molecular biology, cancer cell biology, and certain aspects of biochemistry, biophysics and biotechnology.
